Can I be in the film?
The producers are now casting for the following minor roles:
Willam Harper - (Male, 30 - 45) Based on a real historical figure, Mr Harper is a local tailor who holds a slightly higher social standing than most in the community. He is best friends with Mr Dod and serves as a pillar of stability. As events spiral out of control, Harper becomes the vital voice of reason. He is intelligent, grounded, and tries to maintain order amidst growing chaos. William Harper suffers a challenging fate at the hands of 1500's society and his story remains intertwined with Alice's.
John Dod - (Male, 30 - 45) Based on a real historical figure, Mr Dod is the best friend of Mr Harper. He is a man utterly ravaged by fear, paranoia, and anxiety as the tragic events of the story unfold. Despite his fragile emotional state, he possesses a deep, fierce loyalty to Mr Harper. His vulnerability contrasts sharply with his friend's stability, making him a tragic and compelling character. His story is a historically important one, and is intertwined with Alice's.
Joan - (Female, 12 - 14) Joan is Mary’s older sister and the "perfect child" of the household. Naturally mature, she is a leader in every sense, anchoring the family dynamic. While her dialogue is limited, she features heavily in the narrative through continuous interactions with Mary and Alice. Her character is a vital presence during a devastating, heartbreaking family crisis where she must deliver crucial, emotionally heavy lines.
Mary's Brother - (Male, 8 - 10) He is the younger brother of Mary, one of the film’s central characters. He is a constant, quiet presence during family scenes, often witnessing Mary and Alice getting into mischief. As the story unfolds, the family faces a shattering, tragic crisis that ultimately leads to young Alice’s downfall.
Mary's Mother - (Female, 35 - 45) A devout, god-fearing matriarch raising four children under the rigid, watchful eye of her community. Driven by an intense anxiety over public perception and social reputation, she rules her household with a strict, unyielding discipline. While she view her daughter Mary's actions as deeply misguided, her fierce, uncompromising love for her children is absolute. When an unimaginable tragedy strikes her household, her severe exterior completely shatters, exposing the raw, agonising, and earth-shattering grief of a devastated parent.
Mrs Bradbury - (Female, 50 - 70) Gertruide Bradbury is a fiercely god-fearing matriarch and one of the film’s central antagonists. She possesses a no-nonsense, direct, and completely unsympathetic speaking tone. To Gertruide, youth is no excuse for leniency, she does not view Alice and Mary as innocent children, but as young women dangerously vulnerable to Satan’s grip. A deeply polarizing and severe figure, she has zero hesitation voicing her harsh convictions. Script readers consistently experience an intense, visceral hatred for her character, which must be fully realized on screen.
Edmund - (Male, 25 - 40) Edmund exists entirely within the film’s vivid, surreal dream sequences. He is the highly eccentric, imaginary footman to an equally absurd, unrecognisable dream-version of King Henry VIII. Deeply loyal to both his imaginary monarch and to dream-realm Alice, he interacts heavily with her throughout these fantastical segments. Absolutely nothing about Edmund is naturalistic, he is a heightened, stylised creation of a child's imagination.
Magistrate - (Male, 45 - 65) The Magistrate is the quintessential embodiment of a 1500s English judge. A wealthy landowner of the highest social class, he rules his courtroom with an iron fist and absolute authority. He is rigid, deeply traditional, and incredibly strict. He demands absolute obedience from everyone who enters his space.
Anne Boleyn - (Female, 20 - 30) Anne Boleyn appears in the film’s powerful opening sequence on Tower Green. This is a brief, highly impactful, and unspoken role requiring only 30 seconds of footage capturing her final moments before execution. Despite the lack of dialogue and short screen time, her presence sets the atmospheric and thematic tone for the entire film.
Mr Glaston - (Male, 30 - 40) Mr Glaston is the late father of the titular character, Alice. Having passed away a few years prior to the events of the film, he appears exclusively in vital flashback segments. He is remembered by his family as a man who loved being a father more than anything else in the world, and he was deeply adored by his wife, Mrs Glaston. His brief scenes must radiate pure warmth, love, and a profound parental bond.
