Full Job Description:
We are seeking a collaborative team of enthusiastic, proactive, and hard-working Production Assistants and Runners to join us for the upcoming feature film Dreams of an Eleven Year Old Witch. The project is a powerful, historical look at a dark chapter of British history, following the haunting true story of Alice Glaston, a young milkmaid from Shropshire in 1500s Tudor England who became the youngest girl ever legally executed in the UK. This is an ideal entry-level position perfect for individuals looking to break into the film industry and gain hands-on experience, as the role focuses entirely on supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the production environment.
In this role, you will perform the typical, fast-paced everyday duties of a industry runner to support our crew, while also taking on vital responsibilities at our production base camp. You will be responsible for keeping base camp facilities clean, well-stocked, and organized, directing arriving crew members, managing sign-in sheets, and setting up tech charging stations. On set, the team will tackle essential daily tasks such as fetching supplies, running local errands, delivering urgent messages between departments, distributing paperwork, managing crowd control, and keeping filming areas quiet and secure during takes. Additionally, one person from the team will be assigned daily to step into a dedicated Cast Runner role, taking food orders and ensuring our actors are well looked after and safely guided between wardrobe, makeup, and the set.
Essential Criteria:
- Must hold, or be willing to undergo, an Enhanced DBS check.
- Must be based within a strict, reliable, and commutable distance of Manchester, Shrewsbury, or the connecting corridors.
- Full, uninterrupted availability for the entire 5-week block across October and November 2026.
- High energy, a positive mindset, a strong work ethic, and the stamina to handle long days and very early morning start times on location.
- At least 18 years of age.
Desirable Criteria:
- A full, clean UK driving licence and access to a personal vehicle.
- Experience on a short film, student film, commercial, or media project.
- A basic understanding of professional set etiquette and a willingness to learn how a feature film crew operates.
Daily tasks:
- Keeping production offices, green rooms, and holding facilities clean, tidy, and organised.
- Directing arriving crew/cast members to the correct areas, managing morning sign-in sheets, and issuing visitor passes.
- Setting up, monitoring, and organising dedicated charging stations for crew walkie-talkies, phones, and laptop batteries.
- Monitoring and replenishing water stations, tea and coffee setups, and snack tables across base camp and set.
- Delivering urgent physical messages, scripts, or daily schedule updates between the production office and heads of departments.
- Standing at lock-down points during filming to manage public crowd control and ensure absolute silence when cameras are rolling.
- Regularly clearing away rubbish, used catering items, and recyclables from filming areas to keep locations safe and clear.
- One team member per day will be assigned exclusively to the cast to take specific food and drink orders, look after their welfare, and guide the actors safely between wardrobe, makeup, holding, and the set (Not including child cast)
